You should check out the Well Being Journal this month. It has an article about cholesterol that challenges traditional thinking. The article is written by an extremely credible source and has lots of references.

Scary thing about high cholesterol shouldn't neccessarily be the high cholesterol, but the drugs that doctors are prescribing for it. In the Well Being Journal there is also a great article on statins and research that is being hushed inorder for big corporations to profit.

I am normally a sceptic of nutritional journalism but these guys really do there research and use scientific journals and bonefied experts to get there information. You will also find info on the latest GMO crisis.

Excellent article, I was told by my Doctor at my physical that my LDL, and my HDL were very high. He wanted me on Lipator now!, I said give me 60 days, I stopped eating fast food and took fish oil tablets 3 times a day. when I went back in 60 days He said what ever I'm doing keep it up. 2 years later my cholesterol is normal range. ( I eat once in a while fast food.)

This is a very good introduction to the dangers of high cholesterol.
When I was in practice some years back I had great success with my patients using an Ayurvedic herb called guggulipid.
practice I have regularly seen patients move from a fasting triglyceride reading of 450 mg/dl to 150 mg/dl within 12 weeks and cholesterol readings of 290 mg/dl (LDL 240/HDL 50) down to 204 mg/dl (LDL 124/HDL 80). Significantly, as compared with conventional drug therapy, no side effects were observed with my patients using guggulipid.

Exercise, diet, lots of fiber and Omega-3's brought my son's cholesterol down 100 points in three months. I also have elevated cholesterol and have added to my regimen a resveritrol product my company makes - it has really helped me.

Cholesterol is a bodily reaction to Inflammation. A person must focus on reducing the actual problem, the inflammation, not the cholesterol! It would be like saying that we should take the firetrucks away from a fire, in order to save a building from burning (blaming the firetruck is like blaming the cholesterol).

YES to Deena, staying away from Carbs is the answer (provokes Insulin over-reaction, causing Inflammation). And Fish Oils are super-good, Edwin is so smart to keep away from those Statins (hurt my Father-in-Law).

If you are concerned AT ALL about cholesterol, please, please, please watch this lecture by Gary Taubes or read his book "Good Calories, Bad Calories." It has changed my family's life!!!

This article is very informative, thanks for sharing. I avoid taking statins to lower bad cholesterol level because they may be harmful in the long run.
Instead, I prefer taking aloe vera gel and fish oil capsules to make sure my low-density lipoprotein level is kept low.

I do not have problems with my lipids and never have; I ate very little high fat foods, no red meat for 14 years, alot of white fish, eat alot of veg and fruits, stay away from carbs most of the time, very little bread, potatoes, rice or pasta, never pizza, very little sweet except Trader Joe's 73% dark chocolate for desserts.
